Yesterday I went kayaking for the first time with family members. One of our party was an experienced kayaker, but three of us were fairly new and one did paddleboard for the first time. The staff at NAO were very friendly and helpful, and made sure we knew what we were doing before we left land. Call ahead to reserve a kayak and ask when the tides are coming in and out so you don't have to fight the current. There are some beautiful homes along the creek and the wildlife is amazing. There are lots of bars and restaurants around if you want to relax after your trip.
Warning: Water's Edge restaurant, on the same side of the creek as NAO, will have you towed if you park in any of their not-well-marked parking spaces. When you ask their very rude parking goon where you can park for kayaking, he'll tell you he doesn't know. Park on the opposite side of the creek near Red's Ice House, enjoy kayaking, then get something cold to drink while sitting on Red's outdoor patio and watch the boats and dolphins go by.
