I struggled to rate this one. We did a sunset tour a few years ago with them and loved it. Overall, I think it is a great company with great guides. I just didn't love this particular tour. It is an hour and a half through wavy waters and boat wakes. The island where you hunt for fossils is very small, however we found a ton of sharks teeth, bones, and saw several horseshoe crabs. This part was really fun and my kids loved it. They provide lunch, but I would suggest bringing your own. I don't think there is much oversight in the way lunch is prepared. Our guide forgot the bread, and the mayo was expired by almost 2 yrs! Forgetting the bread really was not that big of a deal to us, but the mayo thing really bothered me, esp since my son had already eaten his sandwich when I realized it. I think the company needs to re-evaluate how they provide a lunch.
The trip back took a little less time because we had a good breeze and the current was in our favor. It was a 10-2 trip that honestly felt never-ending, under relentless sun. There is not a shaded or lazy paddle area anywhere. This is the main reason I rated it 3 stars. It is for the trip, not the company or guide.
We liked our guide. She was professional, knowledgable, and likable. I would do trips with this company again, just not lunch-provided. I would also choose a trip with more variety in the path taken. Also, go to the bathroom before you leave because there are no facilities until you get back.
